Unit 17 - Film School



Film school will be a helpful reminder and refresher of your camera knowledge and skills. The following are good resources for the whole unit:

Any evidence, work or footage collected during film school should be made as a post in your unit 17 blog.

1st Task: You need to demonstrate your understanding of the following camera settings
-Aperture
-ISO
-Shutter Speed
-White Balance

Use a DSLR and this guide to see if you can recreate the settings.

To complete this challenge: Create posters and share with your peers. This knowledge is integral for all filmmakers. You all need to know and master these 4 pillars of photography.


2nd Task: You need to demonstrate your understanding of the uses of different shot types
-Types of Shots

To complete this challenge: write a short shooting script following this brief. Your script and shots must be planned down - there is no "winging it" - no plans, no camera.

3rd Task: You need to demonstrate your cinematography skills
-Camera movements

To complete this challenge: Film your short film from your shooting script. Ensure that every shot is perfect. Nothing else will do.



4th Task: You need to demonstrate your understanding of specialised editing techniques:
-Glitch effect
-Dark Horror effects/composition
-Ghost effect
-Cinematic effect
-Vintage/Faded colour correction
-Strobe/Flickering effect & Transition

To complete this challenge: collect new and appropriate footage for each effect and then edit that footage with the effect on premiere pro
